Threat of Rain Keeps Crowd Small at the Fair
Children had their pick of rides and of prizes as the threat of rain kept many at home today.
Despite the threat of rain, the Upper South Carolina State Fair was open for business on Monday.
Held at the fairgrounds adjacent to Greenville-Pickens Speedway at U.S. Highway 123 and S.C. Highway 124, in Easley, this year's festivities marks the 48th year for the annual event.
While the crowd was light, the fair was still packed with fun.

A ride operator said the 100 percent chance of rain kept the normal Labor Day crowd at bay.
"We just hope tomorrow will be better, but I think we are expected to get rain tomorrow," according to the ride operator.

Children had their pick of rides and of games and the best part — no lines.
All around the colorful palette rides spun, whizzed and whirled, while riders cheered with delight.
The smell of funnel cakes, popcorn and cotton candy, drifted along the Midway.
