Young Actors Company of Easley Forming

presents the Young Actors Company of Easley (YACE). 

From 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, actors ages 7 to 17 will have the opportunity to learn more about the company and to audition for the first YACE production.

The cost is $30 per month per child and involves one night per week of rehearsal and each child will be a part of the production, according to Steve Schultz, director of the company.

Auditions for YACE will consist of a “cold-read” from the script, meaning the actors will be asked to read sections of the script with fellow actors.

The first season will consist of three productions, all of which will be performed on the main stage at Easley Foothills Playhouse, through a special arrangement with the Playhouse.

In July, YACE will perform A Little Princess, an adaptation of the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

In November of 2012, the company will perform Many Thanks: Tales of Thanksgiving.

And in May of 2013, YACE will present Alice In Wonderland.  All shows will be directed by Steve Schultz, drama instructor at the Fine Arts Center of Easley.

Members will also be eligible to take part in theatre festivals and competitions, where participants may audition for college representatives, casting agents, or scholarship awards. 

Membership does not include tickets to the performance, which will be sold separately leading up to the performance. Participation in festivals or competitions may require an additional fee, but participation in those events is optional. Members will receive discounts to special workshops offered throughout the year, including improvisation, Shakespeare, auditioning, acting for the camera, and much more.

Members of the Company will meet once a week to rehearse their productions and participate in brief lessons on acting, theatre appreciation, improvisation, vocal techniques and physicality.
