HopeHealth drives $333M economic impact in South Carolina (postandcourier.com) β€” Florence’s own HopeHealth has grown from a single local clinic into a regional network that generated an estimated $333 million economic impact and 1,571 jobs in 2024. With multiple sites in Florence County and beyond, the nonprofit expanded affordable primary and specialty care, cut statewide health costs, and delivered hundreds of thousands of visits to patients regardless of ability to pay.

Creekside Village reopens, ending Florence apartment's long mold crisis (wpde.com) β€” Families displaced from Creekside Village in Florence by a severe mold problem can finally move back after three years of repairs and upgrades funded largely by a $4 million grant. The Florence Housing Authority says construction is complete, a grand reopening is set for Thursday, and 41 former residents are confirmed to return after years in hotels and temporary housing.

Florence bank robbery suspect caught 2 years later in New Hampshire (wbtw.com) β€” Florence residents now know that the suspect in a 2023 TD Bank robbery on Pamplico Highway has been arrested in New Hampshire and brought back to the area. Police say 54-year-old Glenn Roderick is jailed at the Florence County Detention Center on bank robbery and breach of trust charges, with bond set at $65,000.

Marlboro County parents jailed after child suffers injuries possibly caused by Shaken Baby Syndrome, deputies say (wbtw.com) β€” A child abuse investigation that began at McLeod Health in Florence has led to the arrest of two Marlboro County parents after doctors reported severe, suspicious injuries. Deputies say the child’s condition raised concerns about possible Shaken Baby Syndrome, and both parents now face serious charges while the case continues with state social services involved.

Chris Haynes Named 2025 Star Principal for CCSD's Middle School Learning Community (ccsdschools.com) β€” A former Florence One social studies teacher and assistant principal at Southside Middle and South Florence High, Chris Haynes has been named 2025 Star Principal for Charleston County’s middle schools. His leadership at Jerry Zucker Middle School has improved academics, reduced absenteeism and discipline issues, and boosted support for multilingual learners.
