• Plan for fire-scarred block seeks approval for 75-foot-tall building (coastalobserver.com) — A developer is seeking a height variance for a tiered building up to 75 feet tall on Georgetown’s fire-scarred Front Street waterfront, including businesses, residences, and a parking garage. City planners suggest a lower height, and residents raised concerns about parking, skyline changes, and protecting the iconic town clock. The Board of Zoning Appeals will revisit the request in January.
   

• Arrest made in 18-month death investigation; new evidence discredits 'Stand Your Ground' (abcnews4.com) — Georgetown County deputies have arrested a Williamsburg County man in connection with an April 2024 shooting death after new evidence undercut an initial ‘Stand Your Ground’ assessment. He’s being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center ahead of a Tuesday bond hearing, with investigators crediting community cooperation for moving the case forward.
   

• City of Georgetown receives $1.5 infrastructure grant for Willowbank area (whosonthemove.com) — Georgetown has secured a $1.5 million state infrastructure grant to replace aging water lines in the Willowbank neighborhood, with work expected to start in early 2026. The project will upgrade nearly 8,640 feet of water mains and hydrants on several local streets, improving reliability for residents. Andrews and the Rural Community Water District of Georgetown County also received grants.
