5 Things to Do in Goose Creek Before School Starts

Last chance to build summer memories before school starts.

Summer is almost over in Goose Creek, and if you'd like to get the most out of your kid's summer before school starts, here's a list for you.

School starts Aug. 19.

  • Enjoy the water at Wannamaker Park. You can go cheap with $1 entry at the gate and enjoy the Sprinkler, or you can spring for the $19.99 entry fee for the Whirlin' Waters Adventure Park. Either way, you can't go wrong with water in this August heat.
  • Help others get ready for school with the district's Stuff the Bus. Stuff the Bus continues this week. The campaign will conclude with a finale event on 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, from at both the Moncks Corner and Goose Creek Wal-Mart locations featuring music, games, food and more.
  • Enjoy more water at the Goose Creek city pool at Crowfield. Day passes are $5 per person. Click here for more information. Pool closes Sept. 15.
  • Go fishing at Bushy Park. Summer memories are ready to be caught by getting a line and a pole, and sitting by the water at Bushy Park. Admission is free and so are the fish. Just bring a chair, fishing gear, and possibly a picnic.
  • Catch up on summer reading outside under your favorite tree, or at a public area like the Goose Creek Municipal Center.
Of course, if you don't have kids, enjoy your school bus-free commute for now. Those buses return in just a few weeks.
