
A Goose Creek man died following a single-vehicle wreck Monday morning on Highway 176 near Road 16.
Baron Hancock, 71, was traveling north on 176 when his vehicle ran off the road, he over-corrected and went off the roadway, hitting a tree, at around 8:25 a.m., according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.
The fire department had to extricate him from the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The wreck was investigated by Salisbury and the S.C. Highway Patrol.Â
His death is ruled accidental with the cause as blunt force body trauma. No other vehicles were involved and he was not wearing a seatbelt.
