Honeywell to Lay Off 75 Percent of Goose Creek Employees
Company says 320 employees will lose their jobs starting in September.

Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc. is preparing to lay off 320 of its 429 employees at its facility in Goose Creek in response to a delay by its client, the U.S. Army, according to a company spokesman.
The 74.5 percent local workforce reduction was announced companywide in May. Recently, employees at the Goose Creek facility received Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notices, a federal requirement that must be issued 60 days before layoffs begin. Director of Global Media and Analyst Relations at Honeywell Aerospace Steve Brecken said layoffs are expected to begin in September.Â
"The U.S. Army is delaying the ship maintenance performed by our Goose Creek employees, which means less work at the site and HTSI (Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc.)Â must adjust staffing to fit the decreased workload," Â Brecken said in a statement.Â
A company spokesman was mum on whether or not the Army delay was due to sequestration.Â
