Meet Snakes, Gators on Berkeley Co. Safari Saturday

Berkeley County residents admitted free from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Cypress Gardens hosts a Swamp Safari 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.

Celebrate swamp life at Cypress Gardens by exploring the swamp with a boat ride or swamp netting; finding out about reptiles, rabbits, and butterflies; hearing presentations by Keeper of the Wild wildlife rehabilitation specialists; the Turtle and Tortoise Society of Charleston; and Tony Mills, Herpetologist (reptile and amphibian expert) from the Lowcountry Institute and star of Coastal Kingdom TV show; and listening to live music by the Charleston Hot Shots and Jenni and the General.

Keep your eyes open and you may spot legendary swampbilly Blackwater Willie. Food will be available for purchase from the Friends of Cypress Gardens.

Included with regular admission of $10 per adult and $5 per child. Berkeley County residents and Berkeley Government employees with picture IDs are admitted free that day from 9 a.m. until noon.

10:00 AM - Dip-netting
11:00 AM - Music with the Charleston Hot Shots
11:20 AM - "Blow up the Swamp" Swamp creatures magnified!
12:00 AM - "Reptile Encounters" presented by Tony Mills of the Coast Kingdom television series
12:45 PM - Get your photo taken with a corn snake or alligator
1:00 PM - Music with Jenni and the General
1:45 PM - Alligator Feeding
2:00 PM - "Butterfly Life Cycle Close Up"
2:30 PM - "Keepers of the Wild" presented by Early Mitchum, Wildlife Rehabilitation and Rescue by Keepers of the Wild
