Old JK Harris Building Undergoing Renovations for Furniture Store

Curious about what's happening at the old J.K. Harris building on St. James Avenue?

Part of the building is being renovated to accommodate a furniture store, according to minutes from the July 30 Architectural Review Board meeting. The store is Kimbrell's Furniture. 

The architect for the project was requesting a major application for elevation, materials, colors and landscaping. 

Kimbrell's Furniture was founded in 1915 and is one of the largest and oldest furniture stores in the Carolinas. This would be the company's first store in the Lowcountry.
