Speak Out: Who's to Blame for Dangerous, Feral Animals?

An elderly man was killed in Dorchester County by a feral pack of dogs — is there anyone to blame? Tell us in the comments!

The Charleston area has seen its share of feral animals causing trouble, like the feral hogs wrecking lawns in West Ashley, but the interaction between the public and feral animals turned deadly after a fatal mauling of a Harleyville man in Dorchester County recently.

The dogs were deemed "feral" during an extensive investigation — despite initial reports that three of the four dogs that fatally attacked an elderly double amputee belonged to his neighbor — and no one will be charged with the incident.

Carlton Freeman, 80, died days after his attack, but was able to speak to authorities and first responders. He told them he wished no charges would be made in his case.
