Standoff Suspect: Victim 'Wanted to Fight' Robbery
Bail set at $80,000 for hostage suspect Christopher Flowers.

The standoff between police and an armed suspect Monday may have been sparked over a botched robbery where the victim fought back.
Police have charged Christopher Flowers with armed robbery, attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. The judge set Flowers' bail at $80,000, according to ABC 4 News.
Goose Creek Police responded to Beer and Tobacco Mart on Red Bank Road after a neighboring shop attendant called 911. Police made contact through a back door with the shop owner, who was suffering from two minor gunshot wounds and had his hands tied behind his back.

While speaking with the negotiator, Flowers said the hostage-taking was an unintended consequence of a robbery.
"(The victim) wanted to fight," Flowers said during the call.Â

Flowers told the negotiator he had no intention of fighting the police or causing any more trouble. He surrendered to police shortly after talking to his fiancee via telephone, and let the negotiator walk him out of the building.Â
