Suspect Attempting to Flee Checkpoint Caught
Elizah Robertson of Goose Creek allegedly struck a deputy, a trooper and multiple other vehicles.

A Berkeley County deputy and a S.C. Highway Patrol trooper were struck as a Goose Creek man allegedly attempted to evade a traffic checkpoint at Highway 176 and Branchwood Drive Friday.
After the wreck, Elizah Robertson, 25, allegedly led authorities on a brief pursuit where law enforcement said he struck at least two other vehicles. No injuries were reported.Â
According to Charleston County Sheriff's Office, the law enforcement officers involved in the wrecks were not seriously injured.Â

At around 10:45 p.m. Friday, deputies say Robertson was operating a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am in the area of Myers Road Goose Creek and, as he approached a traffic checkpoint, he struck the trooper and deputy who were working the checkpoint.
Robertson allegedly fled from the scene traveling towards Highway 176, but then turned around back towards the checkpoint where he struck a stopped white Cadillac. Robertson then allegedly continued to flee from troopers and Berkeley County deputies traveling on Highway 17A back to Highway 176.

After turning onto Highway 176 towards Goose Creek, Robertson's vehicle collided with a white Chevy pickup truck that was attempting to make a u-turn in the area of Branchwood Drive. After impact the Pontiac went off of the road to the right into a wood line causing a minor fire. Deputies apprehended Robertson after the vehicle came to rest.
