Lexington High Senior Wins National Scholarship

Madeline Johnson won a National Achievement Scholarship.

Lexington High senior Madeline Johnson was awarded a National Achievement Scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Johnson was one of more than 160,000 students who entered the program in 2011 after taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as high school juniors.

After advancing through the first round and being named a semifinalist in the second round, Johnson continued to fulfill requirements for finalist standing, which included holding a high academic performance, recommendation from an official at their school and earning excellent SAT performance scores.

After Johnson graduates from Lexington High in June 2013, she plans to attend Georgia Tech and major in engineering.
