Lexington High Student Hit by Vehicle Suffered Broken Pelvis

Jordan Ayong is in stable condition after he was hit while walking across U.S. Highway 1 in Lexington.

Lexington High student Jordan Ayong suffered a broken pelvis after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

The collision occurred around 3:35 p.m. Wednesday when the driver of a 2002 Jeep struck the student who was walking across U.S. Highway 1, S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly said.

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Stanley McCloy of Lexington, was traveling north in the median on Highway 1 attempting to get in the turning lane when he struck Ayong.

The freshman was crossing in between vehicles that were stopped at a nearby traffic light when he stepped into the median and was hit by the Jeep, Kelly said.

Ayong was transported to Palmetto Richland where he was treated for his injuries.

Mary Beth Hill, Lexington One’s chief communication officer, said the family reports that the student is doing well but has a broken pelvis. 

The S.C. Highway Patrol is still investigating.
