Report: Judge to Determine Whether A Lexington Lawyer Is Fit to Stand Trial

A ruling may come next month on whether a once-prominent Lexington lawyer accused of extorting more than $1 million from his clients is fit to stand trial on federal charges, according to a report in The State.

He was transferred from the Lexington County Detention Center to the federal medical facility in December. 

A federal judge ordered Breibart's evaluation to determine whether he has a mental disease that would make him incompetent to stand trial, according to The State. The judge also wants examiners' opinion on whether Breibart is insane.

Breibart, a once well-known Lexington lawyer, used to have offices on West Main Street. Those offices closed suddenly last June after Breibart's law license was suspended.
