Report: Man Steals More Than $1,800 in T-Shirts

The 37 shirts were reported stolen from Jewelry Warehouse on Sunset Boulevard.

A man stole more than $1,800 in T-shirts Friday from the Jewelry Warehouse on Sunset Boulevard, according to a Lexington Police Department incident report. 

An employee told police the man came in the day before and tried to purchase a shirt, but couldn't because his credit card was declined, according to the report.

The next day the man came back to the store and tried on some shirts in a dressing room, according to the report. An employee saw the man go out to his car for several minutes and then come back in. He did not purchase anything.

After the man left the store, employees went into the dressing room he had been using and found only hangers, according to the report. The 37 shirts reported stolen were worth $50 each.

An employee told police the man showed up at the Jewelry Warehouse in Northeast Columbia later that same day and returned some shirts, according to the report. The employee said the man is also a suspect in some thefts from the Northeast Jewelry Warehouse location.

The man is described as 5-foot-8, about 140 pounds and between 25 and 30 years old, according to the report. 

Lexington Police are investigating the incident.
