Report: Store Clerk Holds Down Shoplifting Suspect Until Police Arrive
Police say the 20-year-old man tried to steal beer from the store on South Lake Drive.

A convenience store clerk caught and held down a 20-year-old man Sunday who police say tried to steal beer from the store, according to a Lexington Police Department incident report.Â
An officer arrived Rainbow Gas Garden at 911 South Lake Drive around 9:30 p.m. and saw the clerk holding Christian Woods down on the ground in front of the store, according to the report.Â
The clerk told police Woods came into the store, picked up a 12-pack of Bud Light and a 12-pack of strawberry Limaritas and asked how much the alcohol cost, according to the report. The clerk told Woods that the two 12-packs would cost $28.87.Â

Woods then took the beer, ran out of the store and threw the beer into the back of a red pick-up truck, according to the report. The truck drove off, but the clerk was able to catch Woods and hold him down until police arrived.Â
Woods was arrested and charged with shoplifting. He was also cited for possession of beer by a person under the age of 21 and carrying a concealed weapon (brass knuckles).Â

Woods is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
