Woman Shot, Killed in West Columbia

The woman was found severely injured on Lumberjack Road Wednesday and later died at the hospital.

Detectives are investigating the death of a 43-year-old woman who was found shot in the upper body Wednesday in West Columbia. 

Two men who were working to repossess a car in the area saw the woman lying severely injured on Lumberjack Drive around 11:15 p.m. and reported the incident, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. When EMS arrived, the woman was still alive.

She was transported to Lexington Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

The Lexington County Coroner's Office positively identified the woman using fingerprint records, but will not release her name until realtives are notified about her death.

She did not have a permanent address, according to the coroner's office.
