Gov. Nikki Haley was on hand in Fountain Inn on Tuesday as Bosch Rexroth announced an expansion that will make the Greenville County plant the company’s largest in the Americas.
Regional President Berend Bracht said Bosch Rexroth will invest $80 million and more than double its existing hydraulics manufacturing. The investment will create 160 jobs over the next five years. Hiring will begin by the end of the year. It will be the second round of hiring for Bosch Rexroth in 2011, having . The jobs created from the latest expansion are expected to be higher-skilled and higher-paying than the previous ones.
The announcement was made in conjunction with the Greenville Area Development Corporation and the South Carolina Department of Commerce.

After congratulating Bosch Rexroth on their growth, Haley spoke to the media about matching workers to high-skill jobs like those at the Fountain Inn plant.
“It’s our job to make sure we fill the workforce needs,” Haley said. “I talked with the executives at Bosch and asked them what they need and we are on that right now. We’ve got to focus on job training and give people the skills they need to fill these jobs.”

Haley also said that more job creation announcements are expected in the near future.
Bosch Rexroth’s plant sits in State Representative Garry Smith’s District. Smith was in attendance to celebrate the news. “This is huge news for our area,” Smith said. “These type of high-skill, high-paying jobs have a ripple effect on our local economy. The fact that a company like Bosch Rexroth has the confidence to make such a commitment says a lot about our area.”
