Update: Child Struck by Car is Released from Hospital
A young boy was hit near Jamestown Apartments as he was waiting for the school bus Friday morning.

Update 11:45 a.m.: The student struck by a car this morning, a Sara Collins Elementary 4th grader, has been released from the hospital and is at home. "He is a little sore, but otherwise okay," said district spokesman Oby G. Lyles, Sr.
Original story: A young boy was taken to the hospital after being struck by a car while he was waiting for the school bus Friday morning in Greenville County.
According to a report by WYFF, the child, whose injuries are not life-threatening, was waiting on the bus near Jamestown Apartments on Ridge Road.

According to the Greenville County School District, the child is a student at Sara Collins Elementary School.
The district said in a press release that the driver has been charged and did not stop when the stop arm of the bus was deployed.

The crash is being investigated by Greenville City Police.
The district said another bus is taking students to Sara Collins Elementary, Beck Middle and J.L. Mann High Academy. Counselors also have been alerted and are on hand at the school.
