City Begins Process of Refunding $45 Trash Fee

Residents of who have already paid the controversial $45 trash fee may see that money back in their pockets.

Though not on a lengthy agenda at Tuesday night’s committee meetings, new proposed that the city refund the fee to those who have already paid it by March 16.

The matter will come before the full city council at its session on February 20. The move required a suspension of the rules to be adopted. Whether citizens will be credited on their tax bill or be issue a refund is still to determined.

The trash fee was the centerpiece of and overturning it has been a priority.
