City Council Committee Meetings Recap

Prior to last night’s candidates’ debate Mauldin City Council held its monthly committee meetings. Among the highlights:

Fire

The fire department is presently five percent under budget.

The new fire station off Bethel Road is on pace to be completed by October 19 or 20.

Building and Zoning

The department is presently five percent under budget.

A motion was approved to pursue a plan to build signs to replace existing ones at entry points to the city.

Recreation

The city approved a request to repair the portion of the roof at the Ray Hopkins Senior Center that was damaged by heavy rains. The cost will be slightly over $9,000.

The council also approved a request to grant the Maudlin Cultural Center to serve alcohol at an event on November 5.

The city was also notified that four new members have been added to the Cultural Center’s Board of Directors.
