City Council Recap: Cultural Center Adds Three Board Members
Monthly meeting moved quickly

In a meeting that lasted slightly longer than an hour on Monday, the Mauldin City Council received updates on various projects happening in the city and approved a few items relating to the , notably the addition of three new board members.
A look at departmental updates of note:
City Administrator Trey Eubanks said the Cultural Center landscaping project is on budget despite the beneath the parking lot that required the use of provisional funds. Eubanks noted that the Sports Center had a similar issue when it was being built.

Eubanks also said, that, in light of the on Tuesday, insurance costs for the city will be under budget.
Fire Chief Russell Sapp updated council on the progress of the new fire station off Bethel Road (Photos coming on Patch tomorrow). Sapp also noted that response times for fire and emergency calls in September were once again under three minutes.

Building and Zoning Director Peter Nomikos said residential construction up 9 percent from last month.

Mahaela Joiner, Tony Seawell and Rob Valerio were added unanimously to the Cultural Center Board.
Brief bios on Joiner, Seawell and Valerio:
Mihaela Joiner currently owns her own dance company, Layali Layla Dance Co., in Mauldin. She also sits on the Mauldin Chamber of Commerce's board of directors.
Tony Seawell, a resident of Piedmont, owns his own booking agency and has worked with musicians and bands from across the country, but especially within the southeast. He has previously worked for the City of Greenville's police department in Public Relations and has been involved with many organizations across the Upstate.
Rob Valerio, a resident of Simpsonville, is an engineer with AFL Global and is a musician by hobby.
