Garnett the Subject of Trade Rumors
The future Hall-of-Famer's name is popping up in trade rumors.

Mauldin native Kevin Garnett has seen his name appear in trade rumors. Boston media outlets floated the possibility that the Celtics could ship Garnett to Atlanta in exchange for Hawks star Josh Smith.
Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge was reportedly in talks to trade guard Rajon Rondo, but that has not happened. With the Celtics "Big Three" of Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen starting to show signs of their age and Boston hovering around the .500 mark (18-18 as of Saturday), some speculated that Ainge may also try to trade the stars while they still have value. Garnett turns 36 in May and has seen his play pick up of late, but his averages of 15.1 points and 8.1 rebounds are well off his career norms.
Were Garnett to be traded to Atlanta, he would be a short drive south on I-85 for local fans to catch the Mauldin native in action. But right now, any trade is just a rumor.
