Huge Job Fair Scheduled for Thursday in Greenville
Hundreds of openings need to be filled

Acting on behalf of some of the Upstate’s most noted manufacturing companies, staffing groups will be looking to fill hundreds positions from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 8 at McAlister Square in Greenville.
“We will have presentations by some of the area’s most coveted employers – including Michelin, Standard Motor Products, Advanced Technology Services, ZF Transmissions, Ellcon National and others -- along with recruiters from ten of the leading staffing firms doing business in the Upstate, to identify candidates for jobs now, and to encourage others who need to enhance their skills to participate in free training programs,” Laura Harmon, project director of Greenville Works said in a statement. “There are jobs to be filled today, and we want talent to join us for this job fair. We believe there are hundreds of additional individuals out there who, with modest enhancement of their skills by participating in the free and low-cost training programs, can be excellent candidates for these attractive jobs in just a matter of a few weeks. We hope for a big turnout.”
Entry level and experienced positions with top manufacturing employers in the Upstate are being sought. Candidates in need of additional training or certification will be provided with personalized direction on the training they need, how and where to receive it, allowing them to become eligible for consideration for the positions, officials announced.

Positions include warehouse support, CNC machinists, forklift operators, machine operators, assemblers, and multi-skilled maintenance technicians, John Baker, director of Greenville Works, said in a statement. “We have numerous manufacturers across the Upstate that are seeking to expand their workforce, and we are looking for talented, motivated employees to place in a wide range of manufacturing positions. And for many candidates interested in joining the team of one of these top manufacturers but maybe needing to enhance their skill sets, we’ll have information and sign-ups on free and low-cost training programs designed to do just that.”
Applicants should bring a resume with them if they have one. Depending on turnout, follow-up interviews may be scheduled over the next several days. Information on the various training programs, including WorkKeys certification, will also be available at the job fair, being executed with support from United Way of Greenville County, SC Works, SHARE, Greenville Literacy, Goodwill, United Ministries, Greenville Housing Authority, and Lifelong Learning Center.
