
Langston Hosts Debate Tournament - Langston Charter Middle School hosted a tournament for the South Carolina Junior Forensic League on Saturday, December 3. The South Carolina Junior Forensic League (SCJFL) is an organization dedicated to teaching middle school students the art of public speaking. More than 50 students, from as far away as Charlotte, NC, came to compete. Langston winners included the following students: Roann Abdeladl – Impromptu first place, Mary-Frances Behnke - Impromptu second place, Varsha Gopal – Impromptu third place, Sarim Masood – Impromptu fourth place, Aparna Mahendranath – Impromptu sixth place, Team of Anish Chaluvadi & Ankith Khandavalli - Public Forum Debate fourth place, Team of Ananya Manian & Hannah Teipen – Public Forum Debate fifth place, Team of Tanner Street & Hunter Street – Public Forum Debate sixth place.
Langston School-wide Geography Bee Winners…Congratulations to Davy Grace McGuirt, Jill Walton, Morgan Stewart, Meghan Powell, Zadiyah Kissai, Andrew Sanders, Austin Sweet, Mary Elizabeth Coker, Amir Mollaebrahimi, Haven Berry, Farris Sabir, Madalyn Wells, Erica Kosmic, Isabella Kamieniecki, Sam Gooding, Sarim Massood, Caleb Dowden, Cameron Elrod, Serena Dobbins, Hasna Karim for winning the Geography Bee in their social studies classes.
Langston Tennis Teams Now Forming - Langston teams will play in the U14 Division of Greenville Junior Team Tennis. Matches will take place at 6:00pm on Friday evenings beginning late February/ early March. Players must become members of the USTA organization ($19/year Jr. membership fee) and local registration fees are $39. Holiday Music Program – The Langston Holiday Music Program will take place on Thursday, December 15 from 7 – 9 PM at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 1801 Woodruff Road, with performances from the Langston Glee Club, the Langston Dance Team and the Langston Orchestra.
Christmas Toy/Food/Clothes Drive – Items are currently being collected for needy families to be distributed by the ministry of Rock Hill Baptist Church. Donations being accepted are new or gently used clothes, new or gently used toys, and non-perishable food items. Collection boxes are set up in the school lobby. A contest between Langston girls and boys for the most donations will earn the winners an ice cream party.

Stevie B’s Spirit Night – Langston’s Spirit Night is Thursday, December 22 at Stevie B's Pizza on Woodruff Road. Stevie B’s will donate $1.00 for each person who mentions Langston.
