Girls tennis sweeps Dutch Fork to win Upper State Title

The girls tennis team advanced to its fifth straight state title match appearance with a convincing win over Dutch Fork on Thursday. The girls took all four matches on their home court in the following fashion:

Ansley Speaks def. Mareli Sanchez 6-2, 6-1.

Haley Elliott def. Lauren Joch 6-3, 6-2.

Sydney Paton def. Caroline Sloop 6-1, 6-1.

Lexie Stewart def. Ali Savage 6-3, 6-3.

The win is the Lady Mavs 18th straight on the year and 39th over the past two years. They go for number 40 and back-to-back state titles on Saturday and once again they'll face Wando.

The match is tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Cayce Tennis Center near Columbia. Here are directions:
