Man Charged With Illegally Firing Air Rifle
City weapons prohibition extends to BB and pellet guns, too.

It's against the law to discharge firearms in Mauldin city limits. One local man also learned the hard way that the law extends to BB and pellet guns as well.
Sau Ping Cheong, 43, of 918 Goldendale Court was charged by police last week after he was allegedly shooting his air rifle in an area neighborhood, a police incident report said.
Police were called after a neighbor allegedly saw the suspect pointing and shooting the air rifle towards her and her property and telling him that it was against the law, the report said.
The suspect, whom the report indicated did not speak English well, showed the gun to the woman and attempted to tell her it was unloaded, the report said. The man later told police he was merely shooting the air rifle at some trees to determine if the gun was working.
The neighbor declined to press charges over the incident, but police cited Cheong with discharging an air rifle within city limits and ordered him to court, the report said.
