Video: City Council Unanimously Approves Trash Fee Refund
Controversial issue put to rest.

The controversial City Services Fee will be refunded. Passed last summer, and the major issue of the 2011 city council and mayoral election, the $45 fee will be mailed to back to Mauldin households by the end of April. The City Council unanimously approved the refund at Monday night's meeting. Refunding the fee will cost the city approximately $360,000.
Some of the highlights from Monday night:
- The city agreed to annex 450 Forrester Drive and deferred the annexation of the Dollar General near Maudlin High School until April while issues with sewer line access get resolved.
- The name of the Building and Zoning Department was officially changed to the Business Development Services Department.
- The city will pay approximately $8,000 (out of an estimated $29,000) to repair the traffic signal at Holland and Bridges Roads.

This evening starting at 7 p.m. Mauldin Patch plans to stream the monthly meeting of the Mauldin City Council.

The major item on the agenda will be the City Council vote on an amendment that would allow the budget to be changed in mid-year. The amendment would give the City the ability to refund the at an estimated cost of $360,334.20.
Among the other agenda items are:
- A review of the City’s sewer policy relative to annexed properties.
- Use of funds from the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority (GRCA)
-Receipt of $17,850 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
- Call for projects from Greenville-Pickens Area Transportation Study (GPATS)
-City to suggest street improvements be part of GPATS long range plan.
- Annexation of the property at 370 Forrester Drive, 450 Forrester Road and Dollar General near Mauldin High School.
- Approval of federal and state funds for the future through Mauldin and Simpsonville.
- Funding to repair .
- Renaming the Building and Zoning Department.
And…
Girl Scout Troop 993 will be recognized during the session.
