Mauldin High Yearbook Staff Nabs National Honors

Staff also earned recognition as a Pacemaker Award Finalist by the National Scholastic Press Association.

The Mauldin High School Yearbook Staff has earned two prestigious national honors.  Last weekend, the team brought home a Gold Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) for its yearbook, Reflections.

Gold and Silver Crown Awards are the highest recognitions given by the CSPA to a student print or online medium for overall excellence.

A panel of Crown Judges reviewed entries which included newspaper, magazines, yearbooks and online media. Judges were former advisers to student media, professional journalists who understand student media, or professionals such as photographers and online specialists with a particular field of expertise.

The Reflections Yearbook Staff also earned recognition as a Pacemaker Award Finalist by the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA). Yearbooks are judged on unique and school year-specific themes, inventive and consistent design, in-depth and well-researched copy, balanced and thorough coverage, beautiful photography and high reader usability.

Winners in the Pacemaker competition will be announced in late April.
