Mauldin Patch Turns Six Months

As the headline says, today Mauldin Patch turns six months and if nothing else the occasion is an excuse to say "thanks" to the thousands of people who have made us a regular part of their day.

We've published over 1,000 stories--that's about six per day and we've sent out almost 2,500 tweets on Twitter, that's more than 12 per day. We've been busy, but so has Mauldin.

The very first story we covered here at Patch was former 's basketball tournament which brought NBA stars like to town.

Not long after that, the University of South Carolina won its second straight College World Series title and Mauldin's own Scott Wingo was named the Most Outstanding Player. Wingo was recognized for his accomplishments . Later, we kept close watch as Wingo in Arizona and then in Ogden, UT.

Speaking of accomplished athletes, we also had the opportunity to spend some time with the incredible , a l sophomore and national champion tri-athlete.

With the draw-down of combat operation in Iraq in the summer, a soldier and Mom .

Also in the summer, the Mauldin City Council , which would become a major campaign issue in the .

The highlight of the summer might very well have been the which featured an intense .

One of the biggest stories of the year was almost certainly the fight that , is undertaking against SCDOT to keep her property intact while roadwork takes place. That story will be one we watch closely again in 2012.
