Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to ten (10) minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Mauldin Police Department and viewable to the public between the hours of 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Any person wishing to view these standards should contact Captain Roger Tripp at 864 289-8908 for an appointment.
Persons wishing to offer written comments about the Mauldin Police Department’s ability to meet the CALEA standards may write: Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320 Gainesville, Virginia 20155.
The Assessment team is composed of professional law enforcement practitioners from out-of-state agencies. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit offices and other locations where compliance may be determined.
Once the CALEA Assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the full Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to be awarded CALEA Advanced Accreditation status. The Mauldin Police Department has to comply with all applicable standards in order to become a CALEA Advanced Accredited Agency.
Accreditation is for a three year period, during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with those standards under which they were initially accredited.
