Mauldin Resident Among Two Charged With Sexual Assault

One of two Presbyterian football players charged in Lander University assault.

A former Christ Church Episcopal School football player and Mauldin resident was charged Friday with one other man in an alleged sexual assault of three female Lander University students.

Cameren Jones, who graduated from CCES in 2011, and Bobby Henderson of Orlando, Fla., have been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree burglary and kidnapping. Jones and Henderson are freshmen football players at Presbyterian College in Clinton. Presbyterian officials immediately suspended them from school.

Lander University police say the assaults took place last at about 11 p.m. March 21, according to multiple media reports.

Police have said Jones and Henderson were able to get into Bearcat Village, a university-owned dormitory on its Greenwood campus, when a male student inadvertently let them into the building.

, Jones and Henderson made their way to the room of the three female students. Officials said one of the women heard a knock at the door and was unable to identify the person on the other side. She looked through the peephole and asked who it was. One of the men responded, “It’s a friend.” When she cracked the door open she saw two men, one of whom pointed a gun at her head, who then forced their way into the room, according to multiple reports.

Police have told multiple news outlets Jones and Henderson sexually assaulted the three women at gunpoint.

One of the three alleged victims was in the shower when the attacks began. She came out when she heard a roommate scream and was raped and punched in the stomach, according to reports.

The attackers threatened to shoot the women if they screamed, according to reports.

The women were taken to Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood for treatment and then released.

Henderson was arrested Friday and is being held at Greenwood County Detention Center. Jones turned himself later in the day. 

Investigators with the State Law Enforcement Division assisted Lander police in the case.

Authorities said no other persons are expected to be charged.
