Mauldin Police: Teen Steals Family Member's Car and Disappears

The 15-year-old is wanted by police after taking his grandfather's car and disappears.

Teen love or teen crime?

Mauldin Police on Wednesday were on the lookout for a 15-year-old Mauldin boy who allegedly stole his live-in grandfather's car and apparently left the area to see his girlfriend, a police incident report said.

The boy's father told police that when he went to check on his son around 2 a.m. Tuesday, all he found were his son's pillows tucked under the bed sheets in an attempt to fool his parents that he was asleep.

The father then checked the driveway and noticed that his father-in-law's 2010 gray Mazda Tribute SUV was gone from the driveway.

All parents stated to police that the boy had admitted to stealing his grandfather's car in the past. A check of messages on the boy's Facebook and Twitter accounts indicated that he was planning to leave the area to see his girlfriend.
