At last night's ESPN 1440 Jamboree at Sirrine Stadium four of the eight teams involved got a chance to play before the event was canceled by officials at 9:40 p.m. due to persistent lightning in the area. Unfortunately for Coach Doug Shaw and Mauldin High fans, the Mavs weren't one of them. Mauldin was scheduled to play Greenville High.
Southside and St. Joseph's got their game, in but Eastside and Hillcrest saw their game delayed with 9:24 remaining in the final quarter. It was eventually called after a delay of nearly two hours. Woodmont and Greer did actually get on the field for the third game, but while they were in their pre-game stretch lightning was spotted yet again and players and coaches were told to leave the field. Minutes later the event was canceled.
The Mavericks will try to play again tonight at J.L. Mann in the Patriot Jubilee where they are in the opening tilt against Chapman. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
