Mavs Looking to Turn Things Around Against Mann
Hoemcoming game the perfect time to snap two-game losing skid

If the football team was looking for circumstances that would most help them snap a two-game losing streak, they might just have it this week. Not only are they playing arch-rival JL Mann but it is also Homecoming.
“We’re expecting a big crowd, people coming back for reunions,” Coach Doug Shaw said. “So, the kids are excited and want to play well.”
After winning their first four games, Mauldin has dropped their last two. The key to getting back in the win column, according to Shaw, will be consistency. “We need to do the little things and put some drives together,” he said.

The Mavericks will be facing a Mann squad that might look familiar. “They are very similar to us, from their offensive approach to their makeup,” Shaw said. “These kids have been playing against each other since youth leagues.”
Shaw has tried to minimize distractions by tweaking the schedule for the week. The two biggest events are a Pep Rally during 3rd period of classes and the homecoming itself, dubbed Carolina Dreams, starts at 9 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
