
The eight-person Mauldin High Navy JROTC Orienteering Team recently competed in Florida against schools from across the country. The unit accomplished the feat in only its third year of existence.
Cadet Lieutenant Shea Tanner finished as the number two female. Another team member and Cadet Lieutenant Dakota Skutka placed in the top 10. The Mavericks team finished 10th out of the 28 teams competing.
Cadet Skutka finished his 3.5 mile race, finding all ten checkpoints in just over 59 minutes. Cadet Tanner finished her three mile course in one hour and 15 minutes.
The rest of the team was comprised of Joseph Berry (Captain), John Schmidt, Tyler Griffin, Greg Krieg, Wes Lee, Sam Leonard, Phil Boan and Kyler Surrett.
