Update: Missing Woman, Child Found Safe In Virginia

Police Confirm Amy Waldrep and daughter were there voluntarily

UPDATED AT 8:30 P.M.

Missing mother Amy Waldrep and her daughter, Penelope, have been found safe in Virginia, according to Mauldin Police Det. Ben Ford.

Ford said that Chesterfield County Police have confirmed that both are safe and that they came to Virginia voluntarily.

Ford said no crime has been committed and that they are there on their own free will.

REPORTED EARLIER TODAY:

The family of Amy Waldrep still has not heard from her in more than 24 hours after she went missing yesterday morning.

Waldrep with her 10-month old child Penelope Ann on Wednesday with a short white male in front of her home on 30 Woodhedge Court in Mauldin (see map).

Mauldin Police said the search for Waldrep and her daughter continues and they are searching her computer for clues.

Waldrep has Asperger’s Syndrome. Her cousin Lori Beaumont indicated to Mauldin Patch that Waldrep is high-functioning and independent.

According to Waldrep’s Facebook page, she works as a volunteer at a Unique Kidz Day Care in Greenville. She graduated from Mauldin High School in June.

Waldrep’s uncle Richard said the she had talked of going to the beach, but she definitely would have told her family if she planned on going somewhere.

Beaumont  said the family is at a loss as to where Waldrep could have gone.

“We’re asking for a lot of prayers right now,” she said.
