Mutt's to Change Name, Add to Menu

Changes expected to be complete by the end of January

Multiple readers have asked Patch about the status of Mutt’s BBQ, a longtime staple for Mauldin diners. Rumors had been circulating that the restaurant was closing. Thankfully, that is not the case, but owner Steve Smith said Mutt’s will be getting a bit of an overhaul in 2012.

Smith told Patch that the East Butler Road location will be changing its name to Smitty’s in January. The change, Smith said, is not due to any conflict with the Mutt’s franchise or the location in Greer. Smith said the new name will allow the restaurant to become more independent and to add items to the menu in addition to the core barbeque offerings.

At the moment, the top priority Smith said is getting a new sign near the entrance.
