Though it has been open since Feb. 10, the new Mauldin Fire Station was made official with a ceremony that included numerous local officials on Thursday. The festivities were culminated by a ribbon cutting and luncheon.
The station, whose address is 1821 Bethel Road, has been in the works since 1999, according to Mauldin Fire Chief Russell Sapp.
The new facility, Mauldin's fourth fire station, sits in the shadow of I-385 and is home to six firefighters, two of whom will be on a shift at a time.
