New Tex-Mex Restaurant Slated for Woodruff Road

Chuy's, a Texas-based restaurant whose Tex-Mex offerings have built a rabid following in other parts of the country, is planning its first South Carolina location this summer on Woodruff Road, the company announced.

The 7,200-square-foot restaurant, slated to open in July, will be located at 1034B Woodruff Road, across from the new Magnolia Park commercial shopping center.

Originating out of Austin, Texas, in 1982, Chuy’s has built a cult-like following from across the South thanks to its fresh, made-from-scratch dishes, including Stuffed Chile Rellenos, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Enchiladas, and Chuy’s Famous Big As Yo’ Face Burritos. Chuy’s menu features hand-rolled tortillas, margaritas made with freshly-squeezed lime juice, and signature sauces like the beloved Creamy Jalapeño.

“We are very excited and eager to introduce the Upstate community to Chuy’s,” stated Brad Smith, who will be managing the construction, hiring, and opening of Chuy’s in Greenville. “South Carolina is a very special place for me personally, having spent much of my life working here in local restaurants. When I discovered Chuy’s I instantly knew I had to bring it to South Carolina….”

Smith said Chuy’s will feature eclectic Mexican décor as well as pieces inspired by the Greenville community, all custom designed for the Greenville location.

“High quality food and service are our top priorities. But after that, our number one goal is becoming a part of the Greenville community. Chuy’s culture is about sharing, caring, and making a difference, and with our whole team being from in and around Greenville, we plan to get involved in a meaningful way here,” Smith adds.

Once opened, Chuy’s will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week with a weekday happy hour from 4-7 p.m., complete with drink specials and the Fully Loaded Nacho Car — a complimentary, make-your-own nacho bar.
