
Langston Girls’ Basketball Team and Langston All Conference Players - Congratulations to the girls basketball team for winning third place in the Carolina Middle School Conference Basketball Tournament held Feb. 14-15 at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Greenville. Congratulations to Langston 8th grade girls’ basketball player Killian Meilinger and 8th grade boys’ basketball player Ellis Welton for being named All-Conference Players.
Langston Volleyball Club and Tryouts – Langston Volleyball Club meets in the Langston gym on Fridays from 1:45pm – 2:45pm until May 25. The club is open to all current sixth - eighth grade girls and will focus on skill training and match play. Volleyball tryouts dates to play on next year’s team are Monday April 30 - 3:15pm to 4:30pm; Tuesday, May 1 - 3:15pm to 4:30pm; and Thursday, May 3 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Visit by Author and Slave Re-enactor Kitty Wilson-Evans – Langston was honored to have celebrated author and storyteller Kitty Wilson-Evans visit the school on Friday, February 17 to speak to all the eighth grade classes about the issues of slavery and slave life. She performed a first person narrative of a slave and then answered students’ questions. Kitty Wilson-Evans is the interpreter of African-American history at the Historic Brattonsville Plantation in York County.

Upcoming Deadline for DC Trip – The $200 deposit for the eighth grade Washington DC trip next school year is due to the school office by March 16.
Registration Now Open for Langston Summer Science Fun Classes – Langston will offer science classes this summer for rising fourth – eighth graders. Lego Robotics Level 1, Lego Sumo, Beginning Rockets, and Insect Collecting will be offered. Cost is $90 for Lego Robotics Level 1, Lego Sumo, and Beginning Rockets; and $80 for Insect Collecting; plus a $25 registration fee. Class size is limited and is open to Langston students and students from other schools. Registration Now Open for Langston Study Skills Workshop – Registration is now underway for Study Skills – Preparing for Middle School workshop offered to rising 6th graders. The purpose of this workshop is to give rising 6th graders the skills and confidence they need to be successful in middle school. Sessions will be held July 16 –20, July 23 -27, and July 30 – August 3 with morning and afternoon sessions available. The cost is $100 and a $25 registration fee.
