• David R. Sweeney, 85, formerly of Winthrop (northcountrynow.com) — A Mauldin family is mourning the loss of 85-year-old David R. Sweeney, whose daughter Sueann Crowther lives here while he resided in Gaffney. The longtime Army veteran and former Winthrop, NY resident was remembered for his deep faith, community service, and generosity, with memorial donations suggested to a Gaffney church, Simpsonville hospice, and a veterans’ nonprofit.
