PHOTO GALLERY: Mavs Slide Continues, Routed by Dorman

Have now lost four straight

A Mauldin football season that started off so promising now is on the brink of becoming a disappointment. The Mavericks were never in the game Friday against Dorman, falling 50-0.

On the first play from scrimmage Dorman tackled Mauldin quarterback Dre Massey in the endzone and three minutes the Cavaliers were in the end zone and had a 9-0 lead. Things got worse from there.

Mauldin had troubled putting two first downs together while Dorman rattled off one big play after another en route to a 44-0 halftime lead.

After the break, Dorman substituted liberally and mostly kept the ball on the ground. Mauldin's backup quarteback C.J. Thomas directed a couple of drives that penetrated deep into Cavaliers' territory, but those drives ended when the Mavericks turned the ball over on downs.

Dorman and Mauldin are both 4-4, but are going in opposite directions. Things don't figure to get any easier for the Mavericks next week when they head south to play a powerful Greenwood team.
