Political Roundup - Returning to DC

This week Congress returned to the District of Columbia, but we’ll start the roundup with Governor Nikki Haley.

Haley

Governor Haley made several announcement related to the economy in South Carolina. They can be viewed here, here and .

Haley caused a stir when she suggested that people . The suggestion came after she claimed that half the applicants for positions at the Savannah River Site failed a drug test, a claim that later was proved false.

Graham

Senator Lindsey Graham was among the sponsors of a bill meant to give additional powers to the National Guard.

Graham spoke forcefully on the NLRB lawsuit against Boeing saying he was willing to “take the fight to the streets.”

Graham was critical of those in the GOP who are against a continued US role in Afghanistan.  He was also interviewed by CNN on the same issue.

DeMint

Senator Jim DeMint was critical of President Obama’s jobs plan and said Republicans should not vote for it because then they will “own the economy with the President.”

DeMint also referred to the plan as “Venture Socialism.” He called on the Senate to vote on the jobs bill that was passed in the House.

Gowdy
