School District’s Absolute Rating on School Report Card Improves from Average to Good

The School District received an Absolute rating of Good on the 2011 District Report Card, improving from an Average rating. Ninety-three percent of Greenville County schools (80 schools) received Absolute ratings of Excellent, Good, or Average on their 2011 School Report Cards, an increase of one percent (one school) over last year.

From 2010 to 2011, 16 schools’ Absolute ratings improved, 65 schools’ Absolute ratings remained the same, and five schools’ Absolute ratings decreased.

Absolute Rating - District

·The District earned an Absolute rating of Good, increasing from Average.

·The percentage of students scoring Met and Exemplary on PASS increased in every subject from 2010 to 2011.

·The percentage of students passing both sections of 1^st attempt HSAP increased from 2010 to 2011.

·The percentage of students passing End of Course tests increased from 2010 to 2011.

·The on-time graduation rate increased from 2010 to 2011.

Growth Rating – All Schools

·In 2011, 87.2% of schools (75 schools) earned a Growth rating of Average, Good, or Excellent, compared to 88.4% (76 schools) in 2010.

·From 2010 to 2011, 18 schools’ Growth ratings improved, 52 schools’ Growth ratings remained the same, and 16 schools’ Growth ratings decreased.

·The Growth ratings for elementary and middle schools longitudinally compare students’ PASS scores from 2010 to their PASS scores from 2011.

·The Growth rating is calculated by assigning points to each longitudinally matched student score for each PASS test based on the growth or decline the student had from 2010 to 2011.  Schools earn more points for moving students to higher levels.

·High school and career center Growth ratings are based on the overall performance of the school from one year to the next based on the Absolute rating criteria.

·The District earned a Growth rating of Average, maintaining the rating earned in 2010.

·The District Growth rating is based on components of the elementary, middle, and high school ratings.
