Mavs Girls Tennis Team State Champs!

Congratulations to the following girls for being named : Ansley Speaks, Haley Elliott, Sydney Patton, Lexi Stewart, Alex Patton, Hayley Behal, Katelyn Hegarty, Tori Pilgrim, Madeline Weih, Katie Beth Byram, and Caroline Johnson. They beat Wando 4-2 in a very close match to win their 40th match in a row, including 2 state championships! Haley Elliott, Ansley Speaks, and Lexi Stewart will be competing in the State singles tournament this coming weekend to go for the individual State Champions. Haley Elliott was picked to play in the North/South All-Star Senior match the next weekend as well.

Football All-Star Selections
Congratulations to Mauldin Mavericks football players Jordan Hallums and Jonathan McLaughlin for being selected to play in All-Star games this fall. Jordan will be playing in the North-South All-Star Game in Myrtle Beach on December 10 and Jonathan will be playing in the Shrine Bowl All-Star Game on December 17 at Wofford College.

JV Boys Basketball Tryouts Begin Monday, 11/7
All boys wanting to try out for the JV Basketball team: Tryouts will begin Monday, November 7th at 4:00 at the rec center across the street. You must have a current physical to try out. See Coach Harrelson in  B221 or Coach Thompson in  F106 if you have any questions

Mandatory National Honor Society Meeting - Wednesday, 11/9 @ 8 a.m.
All members of the National Honor Society are to meet in the Media center on Wednesday November 9th at 8:00 a.m. for a brief meeting. If you are unable to attend you must bring an excused note to Mrs. Christine Taylor in room B308.

Youth in Government Meeting - Thursday, November 10 @ 7:45 a.m.
Youth in Government members will have their final meeting this Thursday, November 10 at 7:45 a.m. in the auditorium. Attendance at this meeting is essential.

Math Department Welcomes Melissa Harmon!
Melissa is a Furman University graduate. She has two children (9 years old and 3 years old). She is a long distance runner and tries to complete at least one half-marathon each summer. This is her 16^th year of teaching.

New Social Studies Teacher Anthony Bufis
Anthony is a MHS alumni and Winthrop graduate. He is originally from New York. He loves movies, plays and reading. He coaches the MHS Speech and Debate team along with Jonathan Sieputkowski. He is happy to be back at Mauldin High!

Sodexo Foundation Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarships
Twenty to 25 scholarships ranging from $1,000-$5,000 will be awarded to K-12^th grade students who have demonstrated ongoing involvement in hunger-related volunteer services. A third party recommendation is required in addition to student application. American Education Week - November 13-19
Greenville County Schools will celebrate American Education Week from November 13-19 with the theme, "Great Public Schools: Right Here in Greenville County!"

2012 - 2013 Fine Arts Center Applications Now Being Accepted
Students interested in attending the Fine Arts Center during the 2012-2013 school year may begin the application process. Students must apply online at www.fineartscenter.net. The application deadline is January 27, 2012.

Fine Arts Center High School Visitation Day - Tuesday, 11/18
The Fine Arts Center is hosting a visitation day on November 18. Students interested in attending the Fine Arts Center next year may attend. Students must pick-up a Pre-Arranged Absence Form available in guidance and submit a signed copy to the attendance office. Parents may attend and students must provide their own transportation.

Spanish National Honor Society Meetings 
SNHS Meetings will take place the third Thursday of each month at 8:10 a.m. in B125, Mrs. Shanna Yown's room. The dates are Nov 17, Dec 15, Jan 19, Feb 16, March 15, April 19, and May 17th.
