Academic Team Shines
The Mauldin High Academic Team went undefeated in the division rounds at Dorman this past weekend. They won their division and ended up in the quarter finals. Congratulations to Myndert Papenhuyzen, Eduardo Montes, Zack McGill, and Jon Fang. Myndert was the 4th highest scorer out of 104 competitors. Mauldin placed third out of 28 teams in the competition. Joel Leine is the team's coach.
Golden Strip Robotics Team Wins GRITS
The Golden Strip Robotics team won the Georgia Robotics Invitational Tournament and Showcase, known as GRITS, this past weekend. Special recognition goes to first time drive team members Kaleb Guion and Brennan Witherspoon for their winning performances. The team defeated the winners of last spring's Palmetto regional to claim the GRITS trophy.
Interested in Attending the Fine Arts Center Next Year?
Any student interested in attending the Fine Arts Center during the 2012-2013 school year may sign-up in guidance to attend an informational session to be held at 2:30 p.m. on October 26 at MHS. Representatives from the Fine Arts Center will be here to answer questions and discuss the application process. Interested students must sign-up in guidance by October 24.
Maverick Wrestling Club - Grades 1st - 6th - Sign-ups Monday, 10/17
Registration for the Maverick Wrestling Club will be held this Monday at 6:00 p.m. in the Mauldin High School atrium for 1st through 6th graders. No wrestling experience needed.
If you have children or know anyone that might be interested in wrestling, this is a great opportunity to get them started.

Football & Cheer Parent Concession Workers Needed!
If you have not worked concessions for the football games this year, we need your help to staff the concessions booth for the final home varsity games, October 28 and for the home C team/JV games on Thursday, October 20 and November 3rd. If not enough football and cheerleading parents show up, it is possible that the concession stand will not be open.

Jostens' Last Visit for Ring and Graduation Supplies Orders - Tuesday, 11/1
Jostens will be here on November 1st for their final visit to take orders for junior rings and senior graduation supplies. After this date you will need to make arrangement for any orders directly with Jostens at their location in Greenville. No orders will be able to be placed here at MHS after 11/1.

All students are encouraged to take advantage of the FREE online SAT Prep Course provided by Greenville County Schools. The program helps students set goals, measure strengths and weaknesses, take practice tests and improve essay-writing skills. Visit the guidance office today for your access code.

Student Highlights Bulletin Board Needs Photos & Newspaper Clippings!
Please remember there is a Student Highlights Bulletin Board in the atrium and I would love to see it filled up with items of news from YOU! If you have any photos, newspaper clippings, etc. of an MHS student's achievements, whether it is something school related or not, please let me know because I would love to add them to our bulletin board!
