UPDATE: Power Restored to Thousands in Mauldin and Five Forks Area
Outage occurred early Wednesday morning.

UPDATE: 9:38 a.m.
According to Laurens Electric Cooperative spokesperson Jim Donahoo, power has been fully restored to customers in the Mauldin and Five Forks area.
According to Donahoo, the problem occurred when a Duke Energy substation had a transmission-side outage near the Golden Strip Career Center due to an equipment failure.

Thousands of Laurens Electric Cooperative customers are without power this morning after an outage of undetermined cause.

Information is still being gathered, but as of 8:15 this morning 2,452 residences were still without power.
One customer reported an outage at 6:40 this morning which was quickly restored, but thousands of others haven't been so lucky.
