VIDEO: GPATS Meets with Public to Discuss Future Plans
The Greenville-Pickens Area Transportation Study (GPATS) is taking input from the public about its list of suggested transportation projects.
The Greenville-Pickens Area Transporation Study, conducted by the Greenville County Planning Department, has begun a five-year update of the 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan, initially completed in 2007.
GPATS officials were present at Mauldin City Hall on Tuesday to take input from the general public on what they believe the area's transportation needs are. GPATS oversees projects done in most of Greenville County, parts of Spartanburg County and some of Pickens County, including the Patch communities of Taylors, Easley and Mauldin.
GPATS works closely with the South Carolina Department of Transportation and individual municipalities to identify the most badly-needed road and transportation projects, looking as far down the road as 2030. With a new series of public input in 2012, the projects will be reviewed and a longterm plan will be updated to extend the GPATS vision to 2035.
